12 August: International Youth Day

This international day was declared by the United Nations in 1999 to recognise the vital role young people play in shaping our world. It was first celebrated on 12 August 2000 to emphasise the importance of empowering young people by providing them with the tools, opportunities and support they need to thrive.

The day emphasises the importance of empowering young people by providing them with the tools, opportunities and support they need to thrive.young people are the driving force behind innovation, social change and progress. They bring fresh perspectives, creativity and energy to the challenges we face around the world. Focusing on young people is not only investing in their future, but in the future of our entire society. By nurturing their potential, we build a stronger, more inclusive world where everyone can contribute to and benefit from positive change.

EPSULA believes that it is essential to promote the voice and leadership of young people, and therefore takes this International Youth Day as an opportunity to pay tribute to all young people, especially those from indigenous communities with whom it has had the honour to work.
